it's never been the same since then
The problems of last week were not to the the problems of this week. She was not in the know about many of things and she was content with this now. There was enough to answer for here, but what could she do now? Standing here at work, she found herself lost. Alone in the back, no one would bother her. There was things to be done and they were down people after everything that already happened. How her boss had been in the hospital after everything. The way Cassie had finally been found, but now Devin was hearing it from his parents.

She didn't know what to do or how to help, but it wasn't hers to do so with. There was no certainty on how to handle any situation anymore. Why was it that somethings she could do now and others she couldn't? Did that mean that worse things would happen? Why didn't she think to look into the future for this? She thought she still had time after everything before. This wasn't how things normally went. Why was the world going mad, not only in her head but outside. The way people were attacked or treated a way.

The stress load this all placed upon her, she could feel it in her shoulders and back. Those were normally as stiff as they were going to be but this was ridiculous. She needed more than all of this, a release. It left her moving through rooms. There was no particular one she was looking for, there was no search, only that want to get away. Running from her problems and thoughts, in heels and a dress.

The longer she was like this, the more she wanted to go home. But this wasn't home. She wasn't supposed to be whatever this was. That wasn't home either, those places she longed to be able to jump to. These were not home at all. They weren't home in those memories, except through past pieces of a person she was not. More sense needed to be maid, but her emotions had been flinging themselves through her, leaving little to be taken lightly.

Without empathy and feeling so strongly. She leaned against a wall and knocked her head back against it. Hard. It needed to hurt the way the rest of her did. This happened before, once it all started. Her empathy, the way it came on and left her with no regard. It left her feeling raw on the inside. It was as if someone had taken a wire scrub brush and raked it across everything in her. Clearing the way for more, newer experiences, when she was not ready for the ones she had now.

How did one turn this off? How did you fill it with something that made you feel better? Ice cream was only going to go so far here. It didn't fix the problem. This wouldn't go away. She wanted to cry over the departed and they weren't even her own. She wanted to go back and see her parents faces again, as if she had forgotten them already. She wanted to yell at them and tell them how horrible they were to her and ask how they could do this all to her. But she didn't. She wanted to go back and slap herself for putting herself into these situations and fix choices made. She wanted to know why it was so difficult to talk to people or even attempt to hold any kind of real friendship with anyone.

The questions continued to flood her mind as her body began to tremble. Her emotions all over the place and she didn't even understand how this happened. A panic attack in the making. Anxiety driving her over this path as her world spun over her head. An energy that wasn't what she believed to be her own, it came to her, surrounded her, forced its way from her. Fists balling up, her eyes opened just as it flew from her. A feeling, many feelings, moving away from her and slamming into the wall across from her. Everything in the room shook, items rattled and fell.

Standing there in shock, a doe eyed look, she was lucky enough not to be a deer on the highway. Dark hair fallen over her face as brown eyes attempted to gauge the damage beyond it. Her mouth feel open, lips apart, gasping at the view before her. A body had even fallen. That wasn't right at all. There was no apology large enough. Yes, this was not a person anymore, but there was a maintained responsibility in handling the dead with respect. She prided herself on that.

People were calling out from the front, checking on who was alright and what happened. Rachel didn't move. She wasn't hurt, but she hadn't even thought about that. Of all the things to reach her, this was one of those powers she didn't have before. There was no special memory of, not that she was concentrating enough either. All she could do was stand there in shock. This wasn't a normal circumstance.

The door finally flew open as she didn't respond and they found her. Eyes were on the far wall and only later on her. The way she was practically part of the wall as she stood there stuck to it. It left everyone that could peek their head inside in awe. The voices didn't register as to what was being said or why. She didn't care until they began to pull her from the wall. She could barely blink.

Nothing registered until she was sitting in her car for a good twenty minutes staring at the steering wheel. No one but her knew what happened, but it was the damage and the shock that left too many questions. Assured that she was alright, their next step was to contact the fire department and have them look into what caused this. Little was anyone going to catch on, especially when she couldn't claim anything about herself that would stick. She was a half demon without the ability to change into one? That's far from thrilling.
